Indigenous Technologies

From ancient time, Iran has been the origin of indigenous technologies and each of these technologies is used as the base for modern technologies in other countries. Indigenous knowledge is one part of the national asset of each nation that embodies its beliefs, values, methods, tools and local perception. Today, indigenous knowledge of ancient societies is the source of inspiration for developing technologies that would result in development and expansion of the societies. Advancement of knowledge in each country is indebted to the intellectual endeavors of the nation’s scientists through its history. Hence, maintaining and displaying the scientific achievements of scholars and their influence on scientific progression is essential. The exhibition of indigenous technologies introduces various branches of basic science and displays the achievements of Iran and Muslim scientists in the form of interactive exhibits and educational videos. Structures such as Asbad, wind-catcher, icehouse, astronomical instruments of Maragha observatory, simple machines ascribed to the book of Meyar-al-Uqul by Avicenna etc., all represent the evolution of knowledge in Iran from past to present.
