April 18 International Day of Monuments and Historic Sites.
The Lower Govhar Agha Mosque - is a Friday mosque located on Gapan Square in Shusha city. In 1874-1875 a major reconstruction of the Lower Mosque complex was carried out. Construction of the mosque was carried out by architect Karbalay Safikhan Karabaghi on Govhar-agha funds, and later the mosque became known as the Lower Govhar-agha Mosque.
There is a three-arch arcaded balcony on the main north facade of the two-storey mosque. The central arch of the Lower Govhar Agha Mosque has a lancet shape, unlike the side arches, which are semicircular.
It should be noted that the mosque is registered by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a historical and cultural monument of national importance.
