Musei Altovicentino

Musei Altovicentino is a cultural project for the promotion of museums and collections located in a vast and varied area in the province of Vicenza

A territory which recounts itself through its museums. This idea supports the project, which since 2001 has brought together 21 municipalities between the Agno Valley and the Brenta Canal, including the Leogra Valley, the foothills of Alto Vicentno, the Tonezza del Cimone Plateau and a part of the Sette Comuni (Seven Commons).
Musei Altovicentino gathers structured museums and smaller but no less significant organisations, including collections, sites, historic gardens and botanical gardens, visitor and interpretation centres. In some cases, they are the result of research and collections of volunteers and individuals from local communities, involved in the management of institutions and activities.

Museums as instruments to read history and society in relation to landscape

Musei Altovicentino presides over the coordination of joint activities of museums, entrusted to the Office.

The beauty of the landscape and wealth of raw materials encouraged human settlements in ancient times. The territory offers a multiform panorama of evidence that testifies the local history and culture, but also the activity of mankind. There are in fact important traces of anthropic activity, dating back to prehistoric times, that allow us to follow continuous evidence of the evolution of production activities and those of society.
The mountainous areas still bear the signs of World War I, the traces of which can be used to learn about and interpret our history.

Altovicentino Museums promotes the landscape as a cultural resource, allowing visitors to discover the natural uncontaminated wealth of the hilly and mountainous regions.
