Peterborough Museum

Located in one of the city’s most historic buildings, Peterborough Museum has a wealth of stories to fascinate and enthrall the whole family. With amazing objects and interactive displays for all ages, the collections comprise over 200,000 items of great national and international importance.

In addition to what we have in our Permanent Galleries, we have a rolling programme of Temporary and Community Exhibitions too.

The Temporary Exhibition Gallery on the ground floor holds 3 to 4 exhibitions per year, where we can showcase some of our lesser-seen items in our collection. Alongside this, Squire’s Coffee House and the community case within the Changing Lives gallery are a platform for local community groups.

The Museum Garden has recently been developed into a glorious space for both our visitors and for wildlife. During Spring 2012 it was transformed with the help of the national charity ‘Froglife’ and their group of Wildlife Ambassadors. The garden tells the story of Medicine through Time, from Tudor times up to the early 20th Century. There is also a 1940s ‘Dig for Victory’ vegetable patch and a wildlife area.
