Durham Cathedral is a place of worship, pilgrimage and spirituality. As one of Britain's most iconic buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site we welcome thousands of visitors every year. We look forward to welcoming you!

Durham Cathedral is the setting for regular worship and special services, concerts, exhibitions, learning activity and an array of special events.

It is also a place for reflection and private prayer to people of all faiths and to people of none. We welcome over 700,000 visitors each year and we seek to provide appropriate facilities and a warm welcome to all. There are regular tours and self-guided trails are available in a variety of languages.

There is much to do and see, either as an individual or small party of family and friends; or as part of an organized group visit. The Cathedral Church itself is a place of huge historic significance and the Cloister and Claustral buildings offer more to explore including Open Treasure, a new world-class exhibition experience. Journey through the most intact surviving medieval monastic buildings in the UK and discover 2,000 years of history as the remarkable story of Durham Cathedral and its incredible collections is revealed.

Once you've explored the Cathedral and Open Treasure, relax and unwind with delicious homemade food in the Undercroft Restaurant or browse the wonderful range of gifts in the Cathedral Shop.

The Cathedral is open for worship and private prayer between 7.30am and 9.30am Monday to Saturday; 7.45am and 12.30pm on Sunday. The Cathedral is open to 6.00pm Monday to Saturday; and 5.30pm on Sunday. The Cathedral is an active place of worship. Occasionally because of a special service or event full access to whole of the Cathedral may be restricted. Admission to Durham Cathedral is free, with donations welcome. 

Open Treasure is open Monday to Saturday from 10.00am - 5.00pm (last entry 4.00pm) and Sundays from 12.30pm - 5.00pm (last entry 4.00pm). Tickets from £2.50 - £7.50 available from www.durhamcathedral.co.uk
