Museo de Historia Natural da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela
The Museum of Natural History of the University of Santiago de Compostela had its origins in the 19th century as a Cabinet of Natural History housing botanical, zoological and geological collections. In 1906 it reached the category of Natural History Museum located in the building that now houses the Faculty of Geography and History, from where, in 1961, it has moved to the former Faculty of Sciences (nowadays Faculty of Chemistry).
In 2014 it moved to a new building, donated by the Consortium of the City of Santiago for its exclusive use. The museum is undergoing profound changes in this new phase, both in the exhibition halls and its activities, because besides its research and formal education, it focuses its future on science communication, responding to the commitment this University has to society.
