Museo Volvo Ocean Race

A short stroll from Alicante's central esplanade, the Volvo Ocean Race Museum is based in the city's bustling Port Area and offers a fascinating, family-friendly tour through the 43-year history of sailing's most prestigious race around the world.

Formerly known as the Whitbread, the Volvo Ocean Race is the longest and toughest professional sporting event on the planet and the Museum will give you a unique view of the heroes and legends who have been breaking boundaries since 1973.

The Museum offers a multimedia experience with games, videos and unique installations. Learn about the groundbreaking technology, the life-saving clothes and equipment and you can even taste for yourself the freeze-dried food the crews are forced to live on.

You can also visit one of the boats that took part in the 2005-06 edition and go on the exciting simulator of the race, The Ride.

Take a trip through the history of this great race and learn about the marine world in a museum like no other.
