ICOM Barbados is the only National Committee in the English speaking Caribbean. Our closest colleagues are Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. We are made up of a volunteer executive committee and a membership-base of museum personnel and cultural heritage professionals. Our membership includes individual professionals as well as a host of institutions like Springvale Eco Heritage Museum, Folkstone Museum and Marine Park, Nidhe Israel Museum, Museum of Parliament and National Heroes Gallery, The Blue Road Consultancy, the National Cultural Foundation, Central Bank of Barbados, Cricket Legends of Barbados, the Barbados Museum and Historical Society and the National Art Gallery Board.
Our mandate at ICOM Barbados is working for society and its development through museums, and the commitment to ensuring the conservation and protection of tangible and intangible Barbadian culture and heritage. We do this by producing training and workshop activities, assisting our members to attend professional development opportunities globally and facilitating a communication network on all things "museum". Our Facebook page is the best access point for up to date information on activities.
