ZERO MOMENT. ARTISTIC WORKSHOP WITH FERNANDO SÁNCHEZ CASTILLO

“Zero Moment”

The NMAC Foundation as part of their program to support young emerging artists organizes an artistic workshop with International Artist Fernando Sánchez Castillo. Under the title ”Zero Moment” the workshop will be held at the NMAC Foundation from Friday October  28 th  to Sunday 30 th, 2016.

This workshop, is directed to young emerging artists who would like to be engaged in a dialogue about the creative process, inspiration and production. The workshop will be based on the exchange of ideas with Fernando Sánchez Castillo , while also functioning as a generator of new ones within the context of the NMAC Foundation.

In the artist’s own words:

“The subject that will be developed in this workshop is the search for and analysis of images, actions and objects that reveal a breakdown in social processes and create critical initial distance. At which point the strategies of contemporary art are therefore interwoven to create meaning.

What Walter Benjamin would present to us as “Stillstelling” or “zero moments”; moments of incipient images, but also immediate images, and deficient images from which what can not be image can be generated.

Other areas of interest discussed will be: the necessary role (or not) of the artist in relation to social activism and atavism, a review of the role of memory and monuments as social synergies and the place of contemporary art in relation to other disciplines such as journalism, historiography and social mediation.”
