Harris Tweed Suit By Vivienne Westwood, Autumn/Winter 1988 (Ref:X.C37.2002.0.0)
This woman's outfit comprising a tartan waistcoat-style bodice, cape and skirt is made of Harris Tweed. The waistcoat has six small buttons stamped with an orb, Vivienne Westwood's logo (see Other Views)
The outfit comes from the "Time Machine" collection of 1988. The double layered cape on this outfit can be removed from the waistcoat by unbuckling its leather straps. The hem of the skirt at the front is also held open by one of these leather buckle and straps.
The scarf which accompanies this outfit is printed with an 18th century map of London showing the layout of the fashionable West End, particularly Conduit Street on which Westwood's store is located.
