Description: Limestone standing figure of a male dwarf. The subject is bald with prominent ears. The features are crudely incised. The arms are perhaps intended to rest on the hips and the feet are turned inwards. Dwarfs had a special place in society and were often depicted in Egyptian art, in the Old Kingdom as officials and later, in the Ptolemaic and Roman periods as ritual or festival participants.
