Moderna galerija Budva
The Modern Gallery of Budva has constantly been present on the painting art map of Montenegro since 1972. The strict requirements and criterions when selecting the exhibitors, from the very beginning of its existence, have ensured the Modern Gallery the position of a reputable gallery. The most famous names of painters, not only from Montenegro but also from the former Yugoslavia, such as: Petar Lubarda, Milo Milunović, Milan Konjović, Sava Šumanović, Peđa Milosavljević, Zlatko Prica, Edo Murtić, Filo Filipović, Cvetko Lainović, Nedeljko Gvozdenović, Nikola Graovac, Gligor Čemerski, Vojo Stanić, Srđan Vukčević, Dragan Mojović, Milan Tucović and alike, exhibited their works in it either through collective or one-men exhibitions. The “Modern Gallery” was the organizer of the 1st International Painting Art Gathering in Montenegro in 1974. It hosted numerous international artists such as: Gutuso, Tabucchi, Pigoznis, Mosjenko, Nandia, Mulen, Estruga and the others.
The fund of the Modern Gallery is represented by paintings, drawings, aquarelles (water-colour paintings), engravers and sculptures, which mainly have been gathered in collections as gifts to the country. Among them, the most valuable is the unique collection called Modern Expressionists. The most eminent positions in this collection are those of the canvases of the Swedish painter Lindstro and the Japanese painter Tabucchio. This rare collection was given as a gift to the Modern Gallery of Budva on the merit of its manager Jovan Ivanović and of Ljubinka and Bata Mihailović, a married couple of distinguished painters.
The Gallery has two exhibition halls.
