518 International Museum Day in Taiwan Diversity and Equality with Kindness–Reaching New Audience and Bringing Museums Closer to People

In order to continuously advocate 518 International Museum Day and to complement the theme of ICOM 2018 “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics”, Chinese Association of Museums has teamed up with Ministry of Culture to organize a series of connection activities on 518 International Museum Day, with the theme “Diversity and Equality with Kindness- Reaching New Audience and Bringing Museums Closer to People” in Taiwan, gathering the museums, fine art museums, local cultural and educational institutions to participate in “Theme Activity” and “Support in Action”, two different types of activities.

Theme Activity
Expanding on the theme “Diversity and Equality with Kindness- Reaching New Audience and Bringing Museums Closer to People”, the campaign aims to inspire constant attention and innovation on museum technology, kindness, equality, new audience and new interpreted aspects on artifacts for the museums nationwide. For instance, National Taiwan Museum has been focusing on new immigrant issue in recent years, introducing “Southeast Language Guided Tour Service” during May 18^th to 20^th; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts hosts a series of speeches with the theme “Technology Aesthetics – New Connections between Scientific Craftsmanship and Artworks”, and introduction of art-related resources and application usage. National Taiwan Museum of Taiwan Literature and National Museum of Taiwan History present events with the theme of kindness, “The Inner World of The Deaf” and “Musical Feast in NMH with love” , respectively.

518 International Museum Day Fan Page Raffle
In order to encourage people to share the event information of various museums in Taiwan and visit the museums themselves, a fan page raffle will be held from today to May 31^st, including prizes for free entry of selected museums, tote bags and designer teacup and saucer set, etc.
