This grey "Prince of Wales" check suit comes from the "NEXT for Gentlemen" range and featured in the very first NEXT Directory in 1988. Their range of suits combined both comfort and style with their soft construction and generous cut and reflected the resurgence of classic men's tailoring during the 1980s. This double-breasted suit has a slightly romantic and retrospective feel which was part of the fashion industry's interest in 1950s styling.
The suit is made from 100% wool and the Directory featured a sample of the fabric next to the picture. These fabric samples enabled home shoppers to feel the quality of the fabric and see the true colour of the material before they made their purchase. The suit originally retailed at �130 and was also available in the NEXT for Men stores.
