Barockschloß Riegersburg

One of the most impressive and attractive Austrian Baroque stately home is situated between Vienna and Prague, directly on the Czech and Austrian border, 8 km from the recently inaugurated Thayatal National Park and the famous Hardegg Castle.

Baroque ensemble, masterpiece Austrian building skill (Architect Franz Anton Pilgram’s unique secular work) next to a peaceful little lake. Summer residence of the K.K. Governor of Lower Austria Count Khevenhüller and later Princes Khevenhüller-Metsch. Empress Maria Theresia’s resting place on her way to Prague.

What to see: furnished drawing-rooms, fully equipped old kitchen, Chapel, unique dog cemetery and Cafesalon Empress Maria Theresia.
