Kozjansko Park

Kozjanski park

The Kozjansko Regional Park is a region in the Eastern part of Slovenia, near the Slovenian-Croatian border. It is one of the oldest and largest protected sites in Slovenia. The Park is a cross-section of natural and cultural heritage and therefore provides tourists, travellers and other visitors with plenty of opportunities for exploring. Because of its beautiful waymarked footpath, the Kozjansko Park is also an immensely popular site for trekking.

The Podsreda Castle, which was built in the middle of the 12th century, is one of the most important objects of the Roman architecture in Slovenia, as the passing of the centuries has left its Medieval centre practically intact. The Castle houses permanent and temporary exhibitions, and its courtyard hosts different events.

The Kolar House at Trebče and the nearby Hayloft and Javeršek House with the Neža House and a lime-kiln are closely related to the life and work of Josip Broz Tito because it is here that his Slovenian ancestors originate from.
