Croatian Railway Museum

The Croatian Railway Museum is a specialised heritage institution dedicated to the preservation of historic traces of the railway system in Croatia and its technical and other artefacts. Thus, the Museum achieves its mission by collecting material exhibits, archived and documented material, by assessing and processing them, exhibiting and presenting them, by motivating the evaluation of facilities of the railway industrial heritage through educational activities and by taking part in realising cultural tourism projects. In accordance with the proclaimed principles of its activities, the Museum protects technically rare railway vehicles, machines, devices and equipment, original designs and documents and a profuse quantity of facts on the railway system.

The collected material was sorted by the Croatian Railway Museum into various collections including the Collection of railway vehicles and parts, Collection of models, Collection of uniforms and office equipment, Collection of machines, devices, tools and equipment, Collection of signal, lighting and telecommunication devices, Collection of the construction and maintenance of tracks, Collection of timetables, Collection of technical documentation, Collection of postcards. Currently underway is the sorting of the PCollection of photographs, Collection of personal and official documentation and the Collection of regulations, historic retrospect and other articles about the railways.

Collection of railway vehicles and parts, Collection of models, Collection of uniforms and office equipment, Collection of machines, devices, tools and equipment, Collection oftimetables and Collection of postcards have been entered into the Croatian Cultural Heritage Register. The Collection of technical documentation has also been protected as archival material.
