Museo do Pobo Galego

The museum, located in the old convent of San Domingos de Bonaval, was created in 1977.

The Museum of Galician People is an anthropologic centre, although is also includes archaeology, painting, sculpture and sacred art halls.

The pieces on display help us understand the different aspects which define Galician culture. It has different rooms dedicated to the sea, trades, the land, clothes, music, the living environment and architecture.
The Convent of Bonaval (13th - 17th centuries) houses the beautiful Gothic church, the Pantheon of Illustrious Galicians and the iconic triple spiral staircase. Constructed by architect Domingo de Andrade in the 17th century, this elegant granite staircase winds up the three floors of the building. As you ascend the staircase, stop to explore each of the rooms.

The offer of services is large, like an Education and Cultural Action Departmento and a library aimed at being a referent of Galician culture. Furthermore, the museum houses a documentary and graphic archive with funds proceeding from political, union and social entities, along with company and individual approaches.

The centre also includes temporary exhibition halls, an auditorium, an AV room and meeting halls.
