Sculpture at Schoenthal
HISTORY, NATURE AND ART AT CLOSE QUARTERS
Since the year 2000 Schoenthal Monastery has been transformed into a place of cultural encounters. Embedded in the Jura hills, its collection of contemporary sculpture engages in an intimate dialogue with nature. Individual walks to the artworks start at the Romanesque monastery church that itself houses a gallery for temporary exhibitions. The rooms of the former Benedictine cloister can host inspiring seminars and retreats. The monastery guesthouse also invites individual visitors to stay a while and enjoy the peace and quiet. The Schoenthal Monastery’s future is secured by a non-profit foundation and its Society of Friends.
