Humans have always been expressed their imagination for the future in different forms of creative activities. Since late 19th century, concepts about robots, artificial intelligence, virtual reality were visualised in science fiction, sci-fi films, performing arts and futuristic fashion designs. With advances in artificial intelligence forging ahead, it’s a real challenge now to integrate robots and artificial intelligence into our society seamlessly, as technology has gradually built within us a second nature, an artificial one. But how natural can an artificial and technologised world be?
To answer such a philosophical question, HKDI Gallery is proud to present Red Dot Design Exhibition “Homo Ex Data – The Natural of the Artificial”, in collaboration with Red Dot Design Museum, from 25 Nov 2017 to 27 May 2018 at HKDI Gallery, Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). The showcase of over 150 pieces of Red Dot Award-winning technology products will examine the relationship between design and technology and its implication for our future.
