Fra Mirko Ćosić: Painting of Peace and Aspiration to Achieve Real

The exhibition of works by Fra Mirko Ćosić (Buhovo, 1903 – Mostar, 1967), first graduated Franciscan painter from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition „Painting of Peace and Aspiration to Achieve Real“ will present portraits, still lifes, landscapes, sacral and genre scenes from his opus.

 

Fra Mirko Ćosić (Buhovo, BiH, 1903 – Mostar, BiH, 1967) graduated in Zagreb , under the mentorship of professor Vladimir Becić. He taught drawing and art history at the high school in Široki Brijeg from 1935 until 1945. Partisans destroyed almost all his paintings. He even painted in penitentiary in Zenica, where he spent more than six years. Only fifty of his paintings were saved.

The exhibition is realised in collaboration with the Franciscan Gallery Široki Brijeg.

The exhibition is open until December 3, 2017.
