This shroud belonged to a lady called Tashay who lived during the Roman period, 140-160 AD. They show a mixture of Greek, Roman and Egyptian styles. Tashay is shown in Greek dress, but the gods are typically Egyptian. Tashay worships Osiris-Sokar. Behind him is Isis.

Cut shroud fragment with hieroglyphs painted scene depicting a dead woman, Tashay, approaching Osiris-Sokar with her hands raised in adoration. Osiris-Sokar is seated on a throne, attended by goddess Isis. Dated by the hairstyle to 140 - 160 AD. 30 x 23.5cm. The woman wears a tunic with clavi. Purchased by Wellcome at auction in 1930.
