Hand painted floral garland decoration, commemorative dedication and poem., , , , The dedication reads :- John Hall and his Two Sons Lost Their Lives Nov 3 1823, Be Ye Warn'd Then By Our Sudden Call, That Thou For Death Prepose, For It Will Come Ye Know Not When, The Manner How Or Where 1824., , , , The mug is in good condition with minor wear to the rim. A small crack and crazing to the glaze. John Hall and his sons were killed in the Rainton Colliery Plain Pit explosion in 1823 ( see file for details ). Made from pottery. Collected because it is related to a local pit disaster, and is an early example. Colour : cream and brown. It is in good condition.
