This 19th century doll is one of the earliest in the collection. It is made entirely from wood and has flexible joints. The top of its head has been shaped as a Mantilla comb and its shoes, facial features and hair have been painted directly onto the wood.
The doll is older than the clothes it is wearing, which consist of pink bloomers beneath a long, grey dress edged with lace and decorated with a geometric pattern. A silver beaded necklace and a black velvet purse on a white beaded chain also hang around the doll's neck.
