Pale coloured bisque headed doll with moulded and painted hair, character face, painted blue eyes and composition bent limb body. The doll is wearing an ivory cape with shoulder cape and bonnet trimmed with swansdown and a long white lawn gown with five pin tucks and white on white embroidery at the hem. A small brass bell and a white plastic pacifier hang round the neck on pink thread.
The doll is marked 28, K*R, 100, the mark for Kammer and Reinhardt's first character baby launched in 1909. However the head was actually made by Simon and Halbig to Kammer and Reinhardt's design (see L.H102.1968.0.0). These babies are sometimes called Kaiser babies in the belief the doll was modelled on the infant Kaiser of Germany.
