Of the seven balls in the Harborough hoard, two naturally-shaped flint nodules, and two are made from compacted clay.
The remaining three balls are made from short lengths of fibrous material held together with clay. Two of these are covered with fragments of red cloth while the third had four leather segments sewn together around it.
All the balls are approximately 8 cms in diameter.
