This distinctive pull-on girdle, with a geometric design, is made from contrasting black and white sections of cotton, nylon and rubber elastic net. The girdle was made in 1964 and its design shows the influence of the "Pop Art" movement, popularised in the 1960s by artists and designers, such as Andy Warhol and Yves Saint Laurent.
As well as producing their own brands of foundationwear, such as Eros, Liberty and Avro, Symington also produced a wide range of garments specifically for a number of different retailers, including Mothercare, Dorothy Perkins and Littlewoods. They also produced items for mail order companies, such as this pull-on girdle made exclusively for Pinnacle Warehouse Mail Order.
