Oil Painting - Sir John Palmer On His Favourite Mare, 1823 (Ref:L.F23.1982.0.0)

Sir John commissioned this and another painting which featured his prize ox (1823) from John Ferneley. Major Guy Paget produced an illustrated book "The Melton Mowbrary of John Ferneley" including transcripts of the artist's account books. The illustration at the beginning of the book shows this painting hanging in Paget's dining room.
