Documenting Homes Collection

A Documenting Homes collection from Madeline Macdonald about her parents Robert and Muriel Valmai Appleby™s homes at Wistowe House and 67 Church Road, Hayes Middlesex, where they lived from 1938 to 1943; her mother™s home at 51 Thistledene, East Molesey, Surrey, where she lived from 1954 to 1994 and Madeline™s own home at 94 Chandos Avenue, Whetstone, where she lived from 1966 to 1990. The collection comprises three questionnaires, one copied manuscript and 64 copied photographs. Robert Appleby worked for HMV, and Valmai was a teacher. Madeline had various occupations from the 1950s to the 1990s, including housewife, freelance journalist, writer and secretary. Her husband Robin was an agent for a heating engineering company. This material was acquired as part of the Documenting the Home Project in 2010.
