Description: Large bowl. Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue. The bowl has steep, rounded sides that flare towards the rim, and rest on a low tapered foot, encircled with two underglaze-blue line borders. The base is flat, recessed, and glazed. The exterior is painted with scholarly pursuits on a verandah. A sage sits in a pavilion while scholars and their attendants walk in the balustraded garden with a crane, a deer and bats, in a continuous scene above a lappet border. The interior is decorated with a writhing dragon with five claws outstretched among clouds within a double-line medallion.
