Description: Jar. Buff stoneware, thrown with applied incised details, monochrome mottled brown and clear glaze. Peony jar with globular body and short, wide neck; vertical foot with recessed, flat base. Buff stoneware covered with brown slip and transparent glaze stopping short of the foot. Five rows of curving, vertically striated petals applied to neck and body under slip, the overall appearance like that of a giant peony blossom.
