The Cyprus Museum- Room XI

Room XI of the Cyprus Museum is dedicated to the amazingly rich Cypro-Archaic tombs of ancient Salamis, one of Cyprus’ ancient city kingdoms. In these tombs the deceased were carried to their burial place in chariots pulled by horses. In this Room the visitor may see the bronze accessories that decorated the chariots and horses. Another highlight is an impressive bronze cauldron standing on an iron rod tripod and decorated with griffin protomes and double-faced bearded birdmen, known as sirens. Two wooden thrones a footstool and a bed all grave goods, are also exhibited here.
