It made a lasting impression on Gunhild Kirk Johansen when she first saw the adorable little bear Muffy in 1996. Many years later, at Christmas 2005, Gunhild began her VanderBear Family collection. Gunhild’s private collection is now one of the largest in the world. One of the world’s most beloved teddy bear families, created in 1983, the members of the VanderBear Family are papa Cornelius, mamma Alice, twin brother and sister, Fuzzy and Fluffy, little sister Muffy VanderBear (1984) and her best friend Hoppy. Papa Cornelius firmly believes that "clothes make the bear," and Muffy and her family are always well-dressed for any occasion, for parties, travels, the seasons and the weather. They all love to dress up. The VanderBear Exhibition – on public view for the very first time - is for everyone who loves teddy bears, collectors, children and the young at heart. The family has an array of imaginative, whimsical outfits and accessories, designed with humour, creativity and historical detail. This collection will be on display at the Teddy Bear Art Museum in Billund, Denmark, from Spring 2018.
