More than 20,000 images of the Moluccas and of the Moluccan community in the Netherlands from 1900 up to the present. The collection displays a wide variety of subjects: The Moluccas in colonial days, the military and political history of Indonesia around World War II and during the decolonisation period, and the arrival of Moluccans in the Netherlands in 1951 and their initial accommodation in camps. These photographs of camps make up a large part of the collection, but the following decades and the present are also represented. Furthermore, the collection includes several series of pictures of the Moluccas from the 1980s and the 1990s, featuring issues such as family life, daily life in cities and villages, travel and nature. The collection also shows the effects of the civil war of 1999.
