The Grace Museum

The Grace Museum builds connections through new experiences in art, science and history within the evolving Texas story through exhibitions, programs and collections. The Grace Museum houses a robust permanent art collection, five art galleries featuring world-class exhibitions; an Abilene history collection; and an ever-popular children's museum. The building was originally constructed in 1909 as the Hotel Grace, and the museum first opened at Abilene's Rose Park in the 1930s as the Abilene Fine Arts Museum, before moving downtown and changing its name in 1992. Today, the 55,000 square foot building is the tenth largest general museum in Texas, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In the heart of Abilene's beautifully restored downtown Cultural District, The Grace is a hub for arts and education in the region.
