Hunting Museum

Musée de la Vénerie

Presented in the lodging of the ancient priory Saint Maurice, the museum of the Venery (Vénerie) evokes the cultural and artistic dimension of the « chasse à courre », a tradition that continues to this day in the region.

The museum is unique in Europe, with a collection of works of art illustrating the history of the hunt from the 15th century to the present time: paintings (Van Der Meulen, Desportes, Oudry, Albert Guillaume), drawings (Desportes, Rosa Bonheur, Baron Finot, Hallo), engravings (Dürer, Callot, Carle Vernet), collections of old hunting uniforms, arms, hunting horns, trophies and a variety of works of art on the theme of the hunt.
