Warwickshire Museum

The Warwickshire Museum collects, safeguards and makes accessible artefacts, specimens and associated information which we hold in trust. The Museum also promotes the conservation of Warwickshire’s natural and cultural heritage. We work for the benefit of the whole community, present and future, to enable exploration, inspiration, learning and enjoyment.

Our collections cover archaeology, social history, geology and natural history. Their roots lie within the 19th Century collecting activities of the Warwickshire Natural History and Archaeological Society and they are still being added to today. The Museum Service currently displays and interprets its collections at three sites which provide a gateway to our services.

The iconic 17th Century Market Hall Museum in Warwick’s Market Place houses displays and exhibitions relating to our collections of archaeology, geology and natural history. Also in Warwick, the Jacobean St John’s House has reconstructions of a Victorian kitchen and classroom. It includes displays of costume, toys and games, and a discovery room for the under 5s. The town of Alcester’s Roman past is displayed and interpreted at Roman Alcester Heritage Museum, which opened in 2004. More about Warwickshire Museums…
