Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery

One of the North's finest military museums, a lively contemporary art gallery, fantastic café and well stocked gift shop all set in landscaped parkland on the edge of Durham City.

The DLI Museum remains one of the North of England's finest military museums. It tells the story of one of the most famous County Regiments in the British Army. More importantly, it tells the story of ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives.

The Durham Light Infantry Museum has a superb collection of uniforms, equipment, weapons, silver, photographs and battlefield relics covering the whole history of the Regiment from its formation in 1758 to the final laying-up of the Colours in 1968 in Durham Cathedral. Many key objects from this famous collection can now be seen on-line for the first time as part of the museum’s Collection pages.

Durham Art Gallery is County Durham's largest modern and contemporary art gallery.
