Galleries of Justice Museum

Based at Nottingham’s old courthouse and gaol, there are many ways to explore our museum of Crime and Punishment, with free exhibitions, audio and performance-led tours plus a themed café. There is an engaging Robin Hood exhibition perfectly suitable for children of all ages. The legend of Robin Hood has a particular importance and connection to the Galleries of Justice Museum, as for centuries, this historic building was the base of the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The Villainous Sheriff hosts our children’s birthday parties and our new Christmas parties 2014 as well as our popular Sheriff’s Medieval Banquets. The Medieval Banquets include a superb four-course dinner, served by wenches whilst medieval minstrels provide unique entertainment! We also host exciting Murder Mystery events, where guests play sleuth, explore the gaol, interrogate the suspects and take part in the most fascinating whodunnit in Nottingham!

We are proud to be one of Nottingham’s most unique wedding venues. Brides to be who are looking for a grand, beautiful and historic wedding venue in the centre of Nottingham can read more about our wedding services under the ‘special occasions’ heading.

The Galleries of Justice Museum has been voted ‘the most haunted building in the UK’ by paranormal investigators Fright Nights! New for this season are our recently launched brand new Ghost Tours and Terror Tours where visitors will hear tales of the Shire Hall’s dark and sinister past and be led around the haunted corridors, cells and dungeons, some of which are not usually open to the public.

Many of our unique events are suitable for any occasion!
