Bristol Museum and Art Gallery has collections of regional, national and international importance. It is one of the few museums to have been awarded designated status by the government – the mark of an outstanding museum.

Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives collection comprises over 1.75 million objects spanning the history of the world's cultures. Collections include: Fine art, Eastern art, applied art, archaeology, ethnography, foreign archaeology, Egyptology, geology, natural history, social history, industrial and maritime history.
