Museu do Dinheiro

The Money Museum, situated in Lisbon and inaugurated in 2016, presents the theme of money, its history and evolution.

Its thematic rooms display Banco de Portugal’s coin, banknote and art collection with multimedia technology in constant play with real and surprising objects. While exploring the museum, visitors can learn more about pre-monetary currency, money throughout the world, money production, banking history and the role of money in the life of ordinary citizens.

The Money Museum fosters dialogue, knowledge and critical thinking, through educational and cultural programmes for the whole community.
