Historical and industrial Museum - Iron Museum

It is through the evolution of activities, developed since the gallo-roman period, that the visitor discovers the history of the city of Reichshoffen.

The museum also tells the stages of the life of the enterprise De Dietrich, over three centuries. In Jaegerthal, the birthplace of the metal industry in the Northern Vosges, there are the ruins of former smithies.

From there, the De Dietrich, owners since 1684 and “masters of smithies”, developed production sites in Niederbronn-les-Bains, Reichshoffen, Mouterhouse, Mertzwiller, Zinswiller, Lunéville. The museum exhibits the major productions : railroad material, cast-iron stoves, clothes irons, enameled cast-iron, ornamental and decorative cast-iron. So many productions which require specific skills.
