The mission of the Coachella Valley Historical Society, Inc. is to preserve, interpret, and share the artifacts that create a dialogue about the evolving history of the Coachella Valley.www.cvhm.org Come and Visit The Coachella Valley History Museum campus contains the Smiley-Tyler House, a 1926 adobe home, which houses the main exhibits; the fully restored, historic 1909 Indio Schoolhouse; and the only Date Museum world-wide. The spacious grounds contain a Memorial Date Garden, a Japanese Garden, and the oldest Cork Oak tree in the Coachella Valley. Other highlights consist of our Submarine house, a Blacksmith shop, and an archive. Join us on the first Saturday of each month for Family Day. This is a fun day for everyone with extra activities or exhibits featured. Also each month our art gallery exhibits a different local artist. The Museum is open from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and 1 to 4pm on Sunday. School tours are offered Monday through Wednesday with reservations.
