On the inside of the conveyor, witty comments on the factory’s production, work and leisure are transmitted with texts and photos from personal albums of the workers of “Inkaras” or their close fans from Slabodkė (slang for Kaunas district Vilijampolė).
For the first time, this exhibition has drawn the continuance of Lithuanian trade unions. It covers the events from the late 19th century up to the present day and is dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the historic “Inkaras” strike.
On the other side of the conveyor the work “Women of “Inkaras” by painter Ričardas Povilas Vaitiekūnas is installed. Here, the subject matter of the exhibition makes the emotional whole – the factory and landscape, the factory and people, the echo of their voices, their vitality on the industrial conveyor of death and survival.
The exhibition continues the cycle of research on the industrial past “The Great Industry“ initiated in 2017 by the community platform “Backup Stories“, creating a field of attention and memory for the numerous community of former historical factories.
