Come and join us this Friday, May 18^th from 9:30am to 5:30pm, to celebrate the International Museum Day, and discover what Chimei Museum founder Wen-Long Shi has to offer in the City of Tainan !

 

Free to its 1.8 million citizens of Tainan City, Founder Shi established Chi Mei Culture Foundation in 1977, the same year International Museum Day was established by the International Council of Museums. The International Museum Day is celebrated around May 18^th every year to raise the awareness on the importance of museums in the development of society.

 

To echo the theme chosen for 2018 “Hyperconnected museum: New approaches, new publics”. Chimei Museum takes the opportunity to connect local communities through its current temporary exhibition The Beauties of Simplicity: Henk Helmantel to learn more about the artist’s background and held a series of activities from April 27^th to 29^th to celebrate the festival tradition of the Netherlands— The King’s Day. By combining the Dutch tradition of celebrating the King’s birthday with Taiwanese’s love for markets, the museum has launched this cultural event that is uniquely CHIMEI.
