Celebrating IMD 2018: “When Pictures Paint a Thousand Words”

At Costa Navarino we celebrate the  International Museums Day, with the launch of the exhibition that will take place from May 26^th until November 17^th. For the third consecutive year, the Benaki Museum, Costa Navarino and Athens International Airport, join forces in a unique cultural project. They present an innovative exhibition entitled “When Pictures Paint a Thousand Words”, comprising of book illustrations by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, one of the greatest Greek artists of the 20th century. Though best known as a painter, Hadjikyriakos-Ghika began to work regularly as a text illustrator in the 1930s. Some of his best-known illustrations appeared in the works of Cavafy, Elytis and Kazantzakis, among others. The exhibition takes place in two parallel venues, Costa Navarino and Athens International Airport.
