Cargaleiro and Friends

In the organization of this exhibition with works that are part of the Art Collection of the Fundação Manuel Cargaleiro there was the concern to show part of the 70 years of the journey of the painter and collector Manuel Cargaleiro.

In several moments Manuel Cargaleiro shows a deep interest in all artistic expressions - painting, sculpture, ... - and all forms of decorative arts, which are reflected in the many examples that exist in the collection of the Fundação Manuel Cargaleiro, and which the Council of Administration continuously intends to show with a didactic sense throughout its course.

The context of this exhibition follows one of the many paths that the publication of the Foundation Art Collection intends to cover. The title emerges as a starting point for an exhibition that reveals itself through the encounter and dialogue between unique artists, sublimating the profound character of each one, in the sphere of their human, social and artistic condition, without categorizations.

The exhibition "Cargaleiro e Amigos" [Cargaleiro and Friends] presents a selection of fifty-four works in a context of an inseparable relationship between artists, who intersect and intertwine in the immense universe of art. The work of the thirty-seven artists represented in this exhibition is extensive and very important in the field of Art, from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day. In this exhibition the works serve as presentation and invitation to explore the history of culture and art. In their deepening they refer to the awakening of contact and understanding with the artists and their work, which emerges through various biographical paths.

In this context that exhibits sculptures, paintings and drawings, a clear contribution is affirmed that brings us to the celebration of art and friendship!
