Vujica Rešin Tucić: The Avant-Garde Tradition

The author and curator: Nebojša Milenković, Senior Curator at MSUV

The inherited forms of the civil culture have experienced the complete negation. The position of a creator, as a commentator of social movements and individual existence, has been emptied. Creators have become the direct participants, producers who are writing their personal or collective essays of their lives.

Vujica Rešin Tucić, 1970

If we take into consideration how the ethical, moral, political and poetical beliefs of the author can emerge into the unique code of the artist as his own artwork, then the story of the artist Vujica Rešin Tucić is one of the most convincing in the entire history of our art and literature. The artist and the poet, Rešin Tucić has always been on the thin border in the space between experimental literature, new poetry and new artistic practices – at the same time equally belonging and not belonging to each of them.
