Biography
Born in Hong Kong, young Canadian pianist Dane Ko continues to share his artistry on diverse platforms internationally, having concertized in Austria, France, USA, Canada and Hong Kong.
 
An avid participant of music festivals worldwide, Dane has taken part in ISA – International Summer Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, MusicAlp International Music Festival and Academy, Orford Music Academy, and Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival for which he has performed as ambassador. Recognized by growing accolades throughout the years, Dane was recently awarded as a finalist in the 2019 Stepping Stone of the Canadian Music Competition, its most advanced, multi-instrument category, presenting three recitals in the University of Calgary’s Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall. As featured guest, Dane has appeared multiple times on public radio and television broadcasts which include Florida’s WSMR Classical, RTHK Radio 4, and CBC Radio One.
 
Dane holds an ARCT (associate diploma) from the Royal Conservatory of Music with the national Gold Medal. Dane is a grateful recipient of numerous scholarships. His undergraduate studies were completed on a full scholarship at the University of Toronto with Lydia Wong,and honoured with the Gabriella Dory Prize in Music upon graduation. Further education was sponsored by the David and Marcia Beach Summer Studies award which has enabled him to work with such eminent artists and pedagogues as Klaus Hellwig, John Perry, Jerome Lowenthal, Ronan O’Hora, Stefan Vladar, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Ian Hobson and more. Dane is continuing his studies in Toronto pursuing a Master of Music in Performance and Pedagogy in the studio of Marietta Orlov as a recipient of the University of Toronto Fellowship, Arthur Plettner Graduate Fellowship, and Yoshiteru Koga and Sumko Hara Piano Pedagogy Scholarship.
