The exhibition Westlake Panorama displays printmaking and woodblock technologies that have developed around Hangzhou for the past millennium. Using West Lake as a conceptual starting point, and taking “water” as the medium of transfer, this talk will introduce the historical development of Chinese rubbings and water-printing. As part of the event, Professor Ying will demonstrate the complexity and high degree of craftsmanship required to perform these two artistic techniques.
